Solar Water Heating Systems
If you use electricity for hot water production, you can save up to 90% of your hot water production costs on an annual basis. Water heating represents between 30- 50% of the total electrical load in a typical Hawaii home and the cost of electricity can exceed 20¢/kWh depending upon the island and generating efficiency of the local utility.
Solar hot water systems are the most cost effective retrofit and new-build solar systems on the market. They include a combination of solar hot water panels , solar hot water storage tank and may include a differential temperature controller with a circulation pump (A/C or D/C). Other system components that may be included are: a temperature gauge/thermometer, a heat exchanger, an air purge vent, and an expansion tank.
In the Solar water heating arena, Poncho's Solar Services is using proven solar hot water heat transfer appliances, the Sun Earth panels and either RUUD or American tanks.
Poncho's Solar Services uses SunEarth high quality Solar water heating collector panels. Depending upon the job requirements one of these SunEarth panels will be used.
The Empire series collectors are very popular and versatile products.
The Imperial series collector combines high performance, a sleek profile and extraordinary durability. The Imperial's "I-Beam" construction makes this collector the perfect choice for areas that may experience very high wind loads. The Imperial 4' X 10' has been wind load tested by the Miami Test Lab to withstand wind loads up to 180 mph. The heavy extruded anodized aluminum framewall protects this collector in the world's harshest environments.
