Over 30 years of experience in structural and civil engineering design of large residential and commercial projects in Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, as well as most of the Pacific Islands.
Areas of expertise include design of schools, colleges, wastewater infrstructures, bridges, and residential subdivisions, as well as custom homes designed in wood and steel.
Strong technical local knowledge of structural behavior for the type of soil present on the islands and dealing with water tables present on most of the foundation systems in the low elevation areas. Extensive expertise in design of structures on prestressed piles as well as smaller micro-piles for unstable soil conditions. Experience knowledge in design of sheet piling and use of teremie concrete to be poured in the salt water to block water penetrations and foundation preparations in the water table.
Design experience in use of new products for use in structural systems such as extra light pre-cast concrete members useful for insulation as well as sound barriers for noise.
Tom Hindmarsh, VP Research and Development
Mr. Hindmarsh oversaw all aspects of strategic engineering and technical management for sustainable energy solutions at previous organizations.
Prior to joining Ponchos Solar, Mr. Hindmarsh was Director of Research and Development at Sopogy, a solar systems manufacturer.
Mr. Hindmarsh was with INTEL as a strategic technology manager with world wide responsibility. Mr. Hindmarsh performed facilities technology design and automation. His scope schedule and budget responsibility for this $750 million per year program was essential to the technology roadmap of the semiconductor industry.
Additional experience includes large scale design and CM of DC power and solar PV implementations, ranging from 30KW to 1MW in New Mexico and Hawaii. His R&D engineering experience ranges from geothermal systems integration for the Los Alamos down Hole project while at EG&G to performing as an engineering lead in an extensive alternative energy project in Kona Hawaii.
As director at PRI Automation Mr. Hindmarsh was responsible for high value manufacturing automations completed at plants worldwide. Mr. Hindmarsh was a member of the executive staff with strategic planning responsibility during the transition of PRIA to a publicly traded company.
Mr. Hindmarsh has combined his technical training in EECS with an MBA to achieve best in class returns on investments as an international strategic manager.
He is a member of the SRCC rating board advisory committee and has driven the SRCC. He is also active in the newer SRCC rating and certification for solar A/C systems.
